SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Facilities - Sandusky, OH.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to advance the mental health of the United States. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid treatment programs, which are centers which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment centers in Sandusky are programs that are officially permitted to give out the medications used in MAT being they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary benefits in addition to medicine like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehab facility can receive basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment facility is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years contingent upon the kind of accreditation that was given.
