Drug and alcohol abuse programs for Military Veterans are central for the mental health and overall stability of Veterans of all branches of the military. Because substance abuse and other mental health disorders are experienced at higher than average rates among Vets, it is important that Veterans get the help they need due to such high suicide rates also associated with these disorders among Veterans.
Drug and alcohol abuse facilities for Vets in Salem are available through the VA, with included services such as programs to address associated disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, pain, disturbed sleep, irritability, and/or relationship problems which most commonly trigger substance abuse disorders among Veterans. Rehabilitation for substance abuse and associated disorders among Vets includes psychotherapies and group and individual therapy that can increase an individual's motivation to change. Involvement in outside support such as AA and other support groups is encouraged.
