Substance abuse programs for Vets are central for the mental health and overall stability of Vets of all branches of the military. Because drug and alcohol abuse and other mental health disorders are experienced at higher than average rates among Vets, it is crucial that they get the essential assistance they need because of such high rates of suicide also associated with these disorders among our Vets.
