Regular outpatient rehab is mostly a less costly choice to more intensive outpatient centers or inpatient rehabilitation, and is the least intense of formal alcohol or drug treatment available in Indiana. Some clients are in treatment for the first time and have chosen regular outpatient because that is all they can afford and commitment to time wise and scheduling because of school, work or other obligations. Facilities that offer a more diverse array of services may include counseling (CBT) to help with relapse prevention and dual-diagnosis services to help respond to co-occurring substance abuse and mental health disorders. The length of time a person stays in recovery can vary, and a client's progress can be assessed every now and then and an extension of rehab can be recommended contingent upon these evaluations.
In many cases, a regular outpatient recovery facility is going to be insufficient in intensity for an individual who is addressing a severe drug and alcohol issue and has never experienced rehab before or has relapsed after previous outpatient rehab.
