Alcohol and drug abuse programs for Vets are essential for the mental well-being and overall stability of Veterans of all branches of the military. Because alcohol and drug abuse and other mental health disorders are found at above average rates among Vets, it is important that they get the help they need due to such high rates of suicide also associated with these disorders with our Vets.
Drug and alcohol abuse facilities for Veterans in Indiana are available from the VA, with included services such as programs to address associated disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, pain, disturbed sleep, irritability, and/or relationship problems which most commonly trigger addiction disorders among Veterans. Treatment for substance abuse and related disorders among Veterans includes individual and group therapy and psychotherapies which can increase a person's desire to change. Involvement in outside support such as AA and other support groups is recommended. Medications can also be available in some instances to help Vets decrease their drug, alcohol and tobacco use.
Drug and alcohol abuse facilities for Military Veterans are offered during the evening and weekend hours, with both residential and outpatient programs available. Programs which are Women-Only or Men-Only and those for homeless Vets are available in certain areas.
