Substance abuse programs for Vets are central for the mental well-being and overall stability of Vets of all branches of the military. Because substance abuse and other mental health problems are experienced at higher than average rates among Vets, it is important that Veterans get the help they need because of such high rates of suicide also associated with these disorders among our Vets.
Drug and alcohol abuse programs for Vets in Levittown are available through the VA, with services that include programs to address associated problems such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, pain, disturbed sleep, irritability, and/or relationship problems which most commonly trigger substance abuse disorders among Veterans. Treatment for addiction and related disorders among Vets includes psychotherapies and group and individual therapy that can increase an individual's motivation to change. Involvement in other support such as AA and other support groups is encouraged. Medications can also be used in some circumstances to help Veterans decrease their tobacco, alcohol, and drug use.
