Crisis Intervention Team - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Facilities - Revloc, PA.

A crisis situation, such as someone experiencing the tragic consequences of a mental health issue such as alcoholism or drug addiction, calls for an intervention by a team of professionals who can make sure they accept the treatment they need before it's too late. A Crisis Intervention Team in Revloc is a form of community monitoring which calls upon and utilizes healthcare, law enforcement and other concerned agencies as well as family members to help individuals in crisis. This starts with the training and education of law enforcement officers, healthcare providers, and other relevant team members in the community so they know how to respond and effectively work together during such a crisis. There are training programs offered to educate law enforcement officers and 911 emergency operators for example, which includes 40 hours of training in collaborating with the mental health professionals they will be working with during the crisis intervention, refining verbal de-escalation skills so that they can address and handle the crisis without it developing into a possibly combative or antagonistic episode, etc.

In many instances, Crisis Intervention Teams are used as a means of jail diversion. Meaning, being able to appropriately respond to what is really meant to be a mental health issue and not a crime keeps individuals having a mental health crisis out of jail and where they should be, in a hospital or treatment setting receiving help. This also keeps individuals with mental health issues out of prison where they will not be able to effectively address their issue, such as a substance abuse disorder. In lieu of jail, individuals in crisis can receive counseling, behavioral therapies, medication and other recovery services to help them recover. This not only benefits the person in crisis, but also the entire community because it costs more to incarcerate someone with a mental health disorder in prison than it does to properly treat them in a mental health program.
