Regular out-patient treatment is mostly a less costly choice to more intensive outpatient options or inpatient rehabilitation, and is the least intense of formal drug or alcohol rehab available in Slate Run. Some clients are in treatment for their first time and have chosen regular outpatient because that is all they can afford and commitment to time wise and scheduling because of work, school or other obligations. For some, regular outpatient is a "step-down" from treatment in a more intensive outpatient center such as a partial hospitalization or inpatient facility.
Regular out-patient rehabilitation options involve some kind of individual and group counseling services delivered once or twice a week. Centers that include a wider spectrum of services may include psychotherapies (CBT) to assist with relapse prevention and dual-diagnosis services to help address co-occurring addiction and mental health disorders. How long a client stays involved in rehab can vary, and a client's progress can be evaluated every now and then and more treatment can be recommended based on these conclusions.
In many cases, a regular outpatient treatment program is going to be insufficient in intensity for an individual who is dealing with a bad substance abuse problem and has never gone to treatment previously or has relapsed following previous outpatient rehabilitation.
