SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Facilities - Somerset, PA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to promote the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its responsibilities is the administering of opioid treatment programs, which are centers that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment centers in Somerset are programs which are officially permitted to dispense the medications used in MAT being they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get ancillary benefits aside from medication like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehabilitation center can get their initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation facility is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years depending on the kind of accreditation it has been given.
