Opioid rehabilitation facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab facility is certified, it must be re-certified each year or every three years depending on the kind of certification it has been given.
