SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Facilities - Cumberland, RI.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to promote the mental health of the nation. One of its responsibilities is the administering of opioid treatment programs, which are programs that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Drug administered are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment centers in Cumberland are programs that are officially allowed to dispense the medications used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary services aside from medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehabilitation facility can receive basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab program is certified, they need to get re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the type of certification it has been given.
