SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Programs - Rockville, RI.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to advance the mental health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid rehab programs, which are programs which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications prescribed are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment programs in Rockville are programs that are legally permitted to distribute the medications used in MAT being they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary services in addition to medicine like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehabilitation program can get their basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab center is certified, they need to get re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the kind of accreditation that was granted.
