The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its obligations is the oversight of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are centers which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications administered are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation programs in West Warwick are programs that are officially permitted to give out the medicines used in MAT being they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. A requirement that MAT clients must also receive ancillary services aside from medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.
