Medicare is a federal health insurance program that helps pay for health benefits for people living in the Unites States who are either disabled or 65 and older. For people who do have Medicare and require substance abuse treatment in Dallas, this program can cover certain treatment programs and recovery services. Medicare comes in different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering various types of care.

Part A (Insurance for Hospital Stays) - Medicare Part A pays for inpatient addiction rehabilitation, and up to 60 days in treatment without a co-pay but individuals will have to pay a deductible. Medicare only covers 190 days of inpatient care total, as in during the person's lifetime.

Part C (Medicare-approved Private Insurance) Medicare Part D is an alternative for clients who want supplemental health insurance in addition to what the other parts of Medicare have to offer. Individuals who have Part C may have more options available to them, but out-of-pocket costs and coverage is different and may be more expensive.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D pays for substance abuse related medications. Including medications used for withdrawal symptoms during detoxification and medications used for maintenance therapy such as methadone or buprenorphine.
