Because substance abuse and other mental health disorders are found at higher than average rates among Vets, it is important that Veterans get the essential help they need because of such high suicide rates also associated with these disorders with our Vets.
Alcohol and drug abuse programs for Vets in Memphis are available through the VA, with services that include measures to handle associated problems such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, pain, disturbed sleep, irritability, and/or relationship problems which most commonly trigger addiction disorders among Vets. Treatment for addiction and related disorders among Veterans includes psychotherapies and group and individual therapy that can increase an individual's desire to change. Involvement in other support such as AA and other support groups is encouraged. Medications can also be used in some instances to help Military Vets lessen their tobacco, alcohol, and drug use.
