Drug and alcohol abuse programs for Vets are central for the mental health and overall stability of Vets of all branches of the armed forces. Because alcohol and drug abuse and other mental health disorders are found at above average rates among Veterans, it is important that Veterans get the help they need due to such high rates of suicide also associated with these disorders among our Vets.
Alcohol and drug abuse programs for Veterans in Silver Point are available from the VA, with services that include efforts to address associated problems such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, pain, disturbed sleep, irritability, and/or relationship problems which most commonly trigger addiction disorders among Vets. Treatment for substance abuse and related disorders among Vets includes individual and group therapy and psychotherapies that can increase a person's desire to change. Involvement in outside support such as AA and other support groups is encouraged. Medications are also available in some circumstances to help Military Veterans lessen their drug, alcohol and tobacco use.
Substance abuse facilities for Vets can be found during the evening and weekend hours, with both outpatient and residential programs available. Facilities that are Women-Only or Men-Only and those for homeless Military Vets are available in certain areas.
