Medicare is a federal health insurance program that helps pay for health care for people living in the Unites States who are either disabled or 65 years of age or older. For individuals that do have Medicare and need substance abuse recovery services in Cayuga, Medicare will cover various rehabilitation programs and treatment services. Medicare comes in different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering different forms of care.
Part A (Insurance for Hospital Stays) - Medicare Part A covers inpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation, and up to 60 days in rehab without a co-pay but individuals will have to pay a deductible. Medicare only pays for 190 days of inpatient care total, this applies to the person's lifetime.
Part B (Medical Insurance) ? Medicare Part B covers up to 80% of the fees associated with outpatient substance abuse rehab. This includes outpatient care, therapy/counseling, treatment for co-occurring mental health disorders such as depression or anxiety and medications dispensed by clinics. It also covers professional intervention services.
Part C (Medicare-approved Private Insurance) Medicare Part D is an option for individuals who want supplemental coverage in addition to what the other parts of Medicare have to offer. People who have Part C may have more insurance benefits available to them, but out-of-pocket costs and coverage is different and may be more expensive.
Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D covers drug and alcohol addiction medications. Including medications used for drug and alcohol withdrawal and those used for maintenance therapy such as methadone or buprenorphine.
