The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to promote the behavioral health of the United States. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Drug given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted individuals.
