The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to advance the mental health of the nation. One of its duties is the administering of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent individuals.
