SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Facilities - Portland, TX.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to promote the behavioral health of the nation. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid rehab programs, which are centers who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Drug given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment facilities in Portland are programs that are legally allowed to give out the medications used in MAT as long as they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary benefits in addition to medicine like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehab center can receive initial certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment program is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the kind of certification it has been granted.
