There are substance abuse programs offered in or near Cottonwood Heights that cater to both methadone and buprenorphine clients only, controlled medications which are used in what is called opioid maintenance therapy. At centers which treat methadone and buprenorphine clients only, treatment therapies are limited beyond this and the primary treatment goal is to manage the withdrawal symptoms and put an end to the illicit drug use. Some programs do offer a limited amount of counseling and therapy as auxiliary services, and this is recommended and encouraged.
