Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Centers - Elberta, UT.

One of the out-patient rehabilitation options for people in Elberta battling with opioid abuse and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Some clinics and doctors are certified to give specific meds to opioid dependent clients, many of which are opioids also and are habit forming. With low doses the user does not feel high but also doesn't experience acute cravings and is not experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first medication tried for this purpose, but there are a few more choices currently to select from.

Methadone is an opiate and can be taken at an out-patient clinic licensed to administer the drug, which is taken daily as a pill or liquid. The cost of the med is around $150 per month. Buprenorphine is also an opioid based med, and is a pill often taken every other day. But different from Methadone which can only be dispensed in structured medical centers, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The cost monthly of buprenorphine is about just under $300 a month for the generic version of the med. There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, which is a drug that reverses the effects of opiates. Someone consuming this formulation, AKA Suboxone, would find it harder to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken daily, and is priced about $450 monthly. Naltrexone is another med taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned here it is an opioid blocker and is not an opiate. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents a person from experience being high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 monthly.
