Naltrexone is another med taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned here it is an opioid blocker and is not an opiate. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents a person from experience being high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 monthly.
