Methadone and Buprenorphine Clients Only - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Facilities - Nephi, UT.

There are addiction programs offered in or near Nephi that cater to both methadone and buprenorphine clients only, medications that are used in what is known as opioid maintenance therapy. Methadone is a full opioid agonist the same as heroin, and buprenorphine is a partial agonist, meaning the same nerve cell receptors which cause an individual to feel high from morphine or heroin are activated by these two drugs so therefore an opiate addicted client will instead no longer engage in addict behavior and won't have cravings and withdrawal. There are risks of drug interactions, side effects, and even overdose with both methadone and buprenorphine, which is why they are heavily regulated and can only be dispensed in a clinical setting.

Buprenorphine and methadone clients are on these medications daily so they don't experience withdrawal symptoms, etc. but hopefully at a dosage which isn't also causing them to feel high. Euphoria can be experienced at at higher dosages, more so with methadone than buprenorphine. At centers which treat methadone and buprenorphine clients only, treatment therapies are limited beyond this and the main treatment goal is to handle the withdrawal symptoms and put an end to the illicit drug use. Some centers do offer a limited amount of counseling and group therapy as secondary services, and this is encouraged.
