Naltrexone is another medication used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications aforementioned it is an opioid blocker and isn't an opioid. A person has the choice to take this drug as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents someone from feeling high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 per month.
