Methadone and Buprenorphine Clients Only - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Centers - Tooele, UT.

There are addiction programs available in or near Tooele that cater to both methadone and buprenorphine clients only, medications that are administered in what is called opioid maintenance therapy. Methadone is a full opioid agonist the same as heroin, and buprenorphine is a partial agonist, which means the same nerve cell receptors that cause an individual to feel high from morphine or heroin are stimulated by these two drugs so therefore an opiate dependent client will ideally no longer engage in addict behavior and won't experience withdrawal symptoms. There are risks of drug interactions, side effects, and even overdose with both methadone and buprenorphine, which is why they are heavily regulated and can only be administered in a clinical setting.

Methadone and buprenorphine clients are on these medications consistently so they don't experience withdrawal symptoms, etc. but hopefully at a dosage which isn't at the same time making them feel euphoria. Euphoria can be experienced at a high dosage, more significantly with methadone than buprenorphine. At centers that treat methadone and buprenorphine clients only, treatment therapies are limited beyond this and the primary treatment goal is to address the physical symptoms of their dependence. Some centers do deliver a limited amount of counseling and group therapy as supplementary treatment, and it is recommended and encouraged.
