Drug and alcohol abuse facilities for Vets are central for the mental well-being and overall stability of Vets of all branches of the armed forces. Because alcohol and drug abuse and other mental health disorders are experienced at above average rates among Vets, it is important that they get the essential help they need due to such high rates of suicide also associated with these disorders with our Vets.
Substance abuse programs for Vets in Providence Forge are available through the VA, with services that include programs to handle associated disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, pain, disturbed sleep, irritability, and/or relationship problems which most commonly trigger substance abuse disorders among Veterans. Treatment for substance abuse and associated problems among Vets includes psychotherapies and group and individual therapy that can increase a person's motivation to change. Involvement in outside support such as AA and other support groups is encouraged. Medications are also available in some instances to help Military Vets decrease their drug, alcohol and tobacco use.
Alcohol and drug abuse facilities for Military Veterans are offered during the weekend and evening hours, with both residential and outpatient options available. Facilities which are gender-specific and those for homeless Military Vets are available in certain areas.
