Because drug and alcohol abuse and other mental health disorders are found at above average rates among Vets, it is crucial that they get the assistance they need due to such high rates of suicide also associated with these disorders among our Vets.
Substance abuse programs for Veterans in Steeles Tavern are available from the VA, with services that include efforts to handle associated problems such as relationship problems, irritability, disturbed sleep, pain, depression, and/or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) which most commonly trigger addiction disorders among Veterans. Rehab for addiction and associated problems among Military Veterans includes individual and group therapy and psychotherapies which can increase an individual's motivation to change. Involvement in other support such as AA and other support groups is encouraged. Medications are also available in some circumstances to help Veterans decrease their drug, alcohol and tobacco use.
