Methadone and Buprenorphine Clients Only - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Facilities - Mohler, WA.

There are addiction programs offered in or near Mohler that cater to both methadone and buprenorphine clients only, drugs that are dispensed in what is known as opioid maintenance therapy. Methadone is a full opioid agonist just like heroin, and buprenorphine is a partial agonist, meaning the same nerve cell receptors that cause an individual to feel high from morphine or heroin are stimulated by these two drugs so that an opioid addicted client will ideally not become involved in drug seeking behavior and won't experience withdrawal symptoms. There are dangers with drug interactions, side effects, and even overdose with both buprenorphine and methadone, which is why they are highly regulated and can only be administered in a clinical setting.

Buprenorphine and methadone clients take these medications daily so they don't experience withdrawal symptoms, etc. but ideally at a dose which isn't also causing them to feel high. Euphoria occurs at at higher dosages, more significantly with methadone than buprenorphine. At centers which treat methadone and buprenorphine clients only, treatment therapies are limited beyond this and the main treatment goal is to manage the withdrawal symptoms and put an end to the illicit drug use. Some centers do offer a small amount of counseling and group therapy as secondary services, and it is recommended and encouraged.
