DWI clients in treatment need specific requirements met to satisfy the terms of their sentencing. Rehab programs that help fulfill these requirements and terms, which are typically more lenient than regular sentencing which would include large fines and incarceration, are offered in Tony to deliver DWI classes, therapy, and further evaluation for clients with serious drug or alcohol problems.
Education is a primary tool used at rehab programs treating DWI offenders. There are different levels of alcohol education classes which can differ by state. Level I education classes generally include 12 hours of education related to the effects of drugs and/or alcohol. This is the what a person with a single offense or someone under 21 will usually be required to do. Level II DWI classes would include both substance abuse education and therapy at a court approved program. How long a person will have to remain in therapy depends on a few considerations, which can include how many DWI's the individual has had, and the seriousness of the offense. Most often clients will be sentenced to the Level II classes and therapy unless their blood-alcohol content was extremely low when they were arrested and there were no other serious infractions when the individual was arrested.
