SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Facilities - Alma, WV.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to advance the mental health of the U.S.. One of its responsibilities is the administering of opioid rehab programs, which are centers who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Drug administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab centers in Alma are programs that are officially allowed to dispense the medications used in MAT being they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get auxiliary benefits aside from medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment center can receive basic approval documentation while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab program is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every three years depending on the type of accreditation that was given.
