SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Facilities - Baisden, WV.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab programs in Baisden are programs that are legally permitted to dispense the medications used in MAT being they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive auxiliary services in addition to medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment center can receive initial certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab center is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every 3 years contingent upon the kind of certification it has been given.
