SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Programs - Bowden, WV.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to promote the mental health of the U.S.. One of its obligations is the administering of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are centers who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine administered are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab facilities in Bowden are programs that are legally allowed to distribute the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary services in addition to medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment program can get their basic certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab facility is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every 3 years depending on the kind of accreditation it has been granted.
