The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to advance the mental health of the nation. One of its responsibilities is the administering of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are centers that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients.
