SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers - Durbin, WV.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are centers that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment programs in Durbin are programs that are officially allowed to give out the medications used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary services in addition to medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment facility can receive initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation facility is approved to operate, it must be re-certified each year or every three years depending on the type of accreditation that was granted.
