DWI clients in treatment need to complete specific requirements to fulfill the terms of their sentencing. Treatment facilities that help fulfill these requirements and terms, which are typically far more lenient than normal sentencing which would include large fines and jail time, are available in Four States to deliver DWI classes, therapy, and further evaluation for individuals with heavy alcohol or drug issues.
Education is an essential tool used at rehab programs treating DWI clients. There are different levels of alcohol education classes and this can vary by state. Level I education classes usually include 12 hours of group education about the effects of drugs and/or alcohol. This is the what someone with a first offense or someone under the age of 21 will commonly be required to complete. Level II DWI classes would consist of both education and therapy in a court approved program. How long a client will need to remain in therapy depends upon certain considerations, which can include how many DWI's the offender has had, and the seriousness of the offense. Most often clients will be required to take the Level II DWI classes and therapy unless their blood-alcohol content level was very low when they were arrested and there were no other serious infractions when the individual was arrested.
