SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Programs - Gallagher, WV.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to promote the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the administering of opioid treatment facilities, which are centers which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications given are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment facilities in Gallagher are programs who are legally allowed to dispense the medicines used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary services in addition to medicine like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab facility can receive basic certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab facility is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years depending on the kind of certification it has been given.
