The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the oversight of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications administered are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients.
