The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are centers that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted clients.
