SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Centers - Lewisburg, WV.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications administered are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab centers in Lewisburg are programs who are officially allowed to dispense the medicines used in MAT being they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get ancillary benefits in addition to medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehab program can get their initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab facility is approved to operate, it must be re-certified each year or every three years depending on the type of certification it has been granted.
