SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Centers - Reedy, WV.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to promote the mental health of the U.S.. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid rehab programs, which are centers that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab centers in Reedy are programs which are officially permitted to distribute the medicines used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive auxiliary services in addition to medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehab center can receive initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab facility is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every 3 years contingent upon the type of accreditation it has been granted.
