The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to advance the mental health of the U.S.. One of its obligations is the oversight of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients.
