SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Programs - Sylvester, WV.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to advance the mental health of the United States. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine prescribed are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment facilities in Sylvester are programs who are legally permitted to give out the medications used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also get ancillary services in addition to medicine like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehabilitation program can get their basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab program is approved to operate, it must be re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the type of accreditation that was granted.
