The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to promote the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients.
