Drug Rehab Kailua, Hawaii

The community of Kailua, Hawaii is home to 11,975 residents (2010 census) and is the center of commerce and the tourist industry on West Hawaii. With pleasant temperatures and a semi-arid climate locals enjoy Kailua's landscapes and outdoor recreational activities year-around. As the start and finish for the annual Ironman World Championship triathlon the small city attracts many visitors each year.

Hawaii has an exceptionally high number of recreational drug abusers. The two most commonly reported substances among residents enrolling in Hawaii drug rehab programs are marijuana and stimulants; typically meth and crystal meth. Residents of Kailua, Hawaii struggle with similar drug and alcohol problems as other locals on the island. Their need for addiction treatment leads them to a number of recovery resources including AA and NA meetings, addiction counseling, outpatient treatment, residential drug rehab and inpatient alcohol and drug addiction treatment programs. Choosing a residential drug rehab or inpatient alcohol and drug addiction treatment program ensures the resident receives the care they need around the clock as well as the support necessary to change their lifestyle. Living in a program is much different than attending meetings or enrolling in outpatient treatment. During the time the individual is in residential or inpatient treatment their sole focus is on their recovery. This single minded determination is what makes these types of programs more effective than their counter parts.

Successful Intervention Strategies - Kailua, HI.

There are a few different intervention approaches and strategies that families in Kailua may want to use. The most successful among these consist of the Johnson Intervention Model, the Family Invitational Model, and the Systemic Intervention Model.

a) The Johnson Model

This is the model that most people visualize when they hear about an intervention. This strategy consists of confronting the addict when they are not expecting it, and then telling them how their behavior has affected both themselves as well as each one of the family members and friends.

The intervention members will further insist that the addict receive treatment from a program already chosen by the family - ensuring them that they will provide their support throughout the endeavor. If the addict is not willing to go to the rehab program, the loved ones will make ultimatums, usually referred to as guidelines, outlining the consequences the individual will have to endure if they refuse treatment.

This threat of consequences is what many people say makes the Johnson Model the most successful out of of all the intervention strategies. However, some people may feel that this model involves too much confrontation, and may prefer to opt for another intervention approach.

b) The Family Invitational Model

This is another approach you may want to consider. The main idea is that it doesn't make use of the surprise confrontation like the previously discussed model. Instead, the addict will be made aware of what is going to occur when they are invited to the arranged meeting.

The addict will also be given the freedom to decide whether or not they will participate in the intervention gathering, as well as react to the issues and the proposed solutions raised in the discussion.

c) The Systemic Intervention Model

Here, the family will convene with a trained and certified therapist - with the addict also present. The therapist will supervise and direct the dialog towards healing and finding appropriate solutions to the problem - which may or may not consist of the addict checking into an addiction treatment center.
