The armed forces currently uses a military insurance called Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families receive health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard provides benefits for retired military who are 60 or older and their qualified family members. With Tricare Standard they have access to any civilian health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay an annual deductible and coinsurance, in addition to any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is available for Tricare Standard beneficiaries which allows access to civilian health care providers within their provider network, with a reduced coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is offered to all active-duty members, retirees, and all qualified family members, and with this they can choose a primary care physician and obtain referrals to health care services that offer specialty care.
Through TRICARE, military members can receive substance abuse rehabilitation services in Kenai. This encompasses detoxification, individual and group therapy including family therapy, and other various rehabilitation services. They will require pre-authorization for treatment and there will most likely be some limitations. Military insurance covers both outpatient and inpatient, but inpatient services for detoxification are restricted to 7 days.
