Someone consuming this formulation, also known as Suboxone, would find it more difficult to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken daily, and costs about $450 a month. Naltrexone is an additional drug used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications aforementioned it is an opiate blocker and isn't an opioid. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly injection, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents an individual from feeling high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 per month.
