Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Programs - Bellwood, AL.

One of the out-patient rehab options for people in Bellwood struggling with opioid dependence and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Some centers and doctors are authorized to dispense specific medications to opioid dependent individuals, many of which are opioids themselves and are addiction. In low doses the individual does not feel high and also doesn't have acute cravings and isn't experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first med tried for this reason, but there are a few more options currently to choose from.

Methadone is an opioid and is meant to be taken at an outpatient clinic licensed to administer the drug, which is taken daily in liquid or pill form. The cost of the drug is about $150 monthly. Buprenorphine is also an opioid-based med, and is in pill form often taken every other day. But different from Methadone which can only be dispensed in structured clinics, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The cost monthly of buprenorphine is around just under $300 per month for the generic version of the drug. There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, that is a drug which blocks the effects of opioids. An individual taking this version of the drug, also known as Suboxone, would find it more difficult to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken on a daily basis, and costs approximately $450 monthly. Naltrexone is another med used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned here it's an opioid blocker and isn't an opiate. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly shot, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents someone from getting high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 /month.
