Partial hospitalization/Day Treatment is a type of out-patient substance abuse rehabilitation program which is just below intensive out-patient and more intensive than regular outpatient rehabilitation. Partial Hospitalization Day Treatment is also tailored to individuals who may need intensive rehab for a co-occurring mental health disorder, but do not require 24 hour supervision and treatment. For a client who has completed inpatient rehab, a partial hospitalization day treatment plan in Black could help them transition more easily into a sober way of life as a "step-down" option. After partial hospitalization day treatment, the client could then phase into regular outpatient care.
When a person is in a partial hospitalization day treatment center, they commonly participate in services anywhere from 3-5 days a week. It is like an inpatient treatment program in many significant ways, including the fact that people will have access tomental health professionals, physicians and nurses who can deal with the psychological, emotional, and physical challenges they are trying to conquer. For at least 4-6 hours on the days that individuals attend partial hospitalization day treatment, they will receive individual addiction therapy, attend group counseling sessions, psychotherapy sessions, receive any needed medical care and address any of the mental health issues that are triggering their alcohol and drug addiction.
