There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, which is a med that reverses the effects of opiates. A person taking this formulation, also known as Suboxone, would find it more difficult to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken on a daily basis, and is priced around $450 monthly. Naltrexone is another med used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications aforementioned it's an opioid blocker and isn't an opiate. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents a person from experience being high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 per month.
