Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers - Remlap, AL.

One of the outpatient treatment alternatives for people in Remlap who are struggling with opioid abuse and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Some facilities and doctors are certified to give specific meds to opioid dependent clients, many of which are opioid-based also and are addictive. In low enough doses however, the user doesn't feel high and also doesn't experience severe cravings and is not in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first drug tried for this reason, but there are other options currently to select from.

Methadone is an opiate and is meant to be taken at an outpatient medical center certified to dispense the drug, that is taken on a daily basis in liquid or pill form. The price of the drug is about $150 monthly. Buprenorphine is also an opioid-based drug, and is a pill often taken every other day. But unlike Methadone that is only be dispensed in well-regulated clinics, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The price monthly of buprenorphine is about three hundred dollars per month for the generic version of the drug. There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, which is a med that blocks the effects of opiates. Someone consuming this version of the drug, AKA Suboxone, would find it harder to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken on a daily basis, and costs approximately $450 monthly. Naltrexone is another drug used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned here it's an opiate blocker and is not an opioid. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly injection, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents a person from feeling high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 a month.
